In 1961 Fort Churchill Manitoba was a very active base. The base was probably 7 miles from the town of Fort Churchill which had the old fort-the railhead for train running south and of course a Hudson Bay trading store. There was an Eskimo or now called settlement Camp A and an Indian or now First Nation settlement outside the town. I worked in Hong Kong twice -once when British were there in 1996 and after China took over in 1998 I was asked to fly to Hong Kong in DEC 2002 from where I was working in Stockholm to check for my Cdn EDS Consulting company boss on a problem with a contract there- fresh unbiased eyes. So off to to Amsterdam and a direct flight over Mother Russia to Hong Kong. Lasnded in the equivalent of "downtown Hong Kong " at Kai Tak airport -which was in Hong Kong harbour- one landed literally... Churchill Manitoba Military Bse was about 7 miles from the town of Churchill Manitoba.
